Howard Brown was born in 1925, in Pulaski, NY. His wife, Adele, was born in 1932, in Davenport, Iowa. Howard spent his life working as an engineer technician for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. He retired in 1988 after 35 years of service. Adele also retired in 1988 after 23 ½ years as a voucher examiner with the Rock Island Arsenal.
Even in retirement, the Browns have found plenty to do. Adele loves to spend her time working on craft projects, such as crocheting afghans and other small items. Howard is an avid pilot, artist, and musician.
The couple have partnered with the Community Foundation to create a Charitable Gift Annuity. The annuity will provide the Browns with a lifetime income. Eventually, the remainder from the annuity will be used to create a scholarship fund. The scholarship will be set up through their church, Grace United Methodist Church in Davenport, to benefit youth who wish to attend college or trade school.
