Michael J. Condon, Sr. died unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2002 , at hisresidence in Davenport , Iowa . He was born March 19, 1938 , in Davenport , a son of Bernard J. "Bunny" and Nelle (Andre) Condon. He married Ann Marie Geurink on April 5, 1961 , at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport . He was a 1956 graduate of the former St. Ambrose Academy , line Davenport . He served in the Iowa National Guard for eight years, achieving rank of sergeant first class. Mike began a career in building that spanned over 43 years. He was a well-known developer and builder. He had a passion for the building industry, which began with the White Lumber Yard in 1960. In 1971, he joined Mel Foster Co. as a builder. He was the second Iowan to build condominiums and built one of the largest condominium communities in the state. He spent the last 32 years as a Realtor/broker and home builder. He founded Mike Condon Construction, Inc. and built numerous single-family homes and condominiums. He was a dedicated volunteer to his community and his church. He had been involved with many projects that supported local charities and sporting events. Mike was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He was an active volunteer in the building of the church and rectory and had been a member of the choir. He was a longtime member of the Davenport Moose, enjoyed bowling, and had been an avid golfer. He was a member of several local, state and national realty and home building associations, including the Davenport Board of Realtors and Quad-City Home Builders Association.
