Helen Jeanne Krause was born in August of 1917. She graduated from
Maquoketa High School and Marycrest College with a degree in elementary
education. Helen Jeanne then attended Iowa State University where she
met Donald Helble. They met and married in July of 1941.
Helen Jeanne was an outstanding fourth grade teacher for 25 years in the
Central Community School District. She was involved in many community
activities such as volunteering for her church, teaching Sunday school
and acted as superintendent of Bible School.
Donna Jeanne, Helen’s daughter, also pursued a career in education. She
is a professor of education at Winnona State University, thus carrying
on the Helble’s love of continuous learning.
The Helen Jeanne Helble Endowment Fund supports improving elementary
education through the Central Community Education Foundation.
