The graduating class of 1954 met for their 45th reunion in 1999 in DeWitt, Iowa. Members of this class decided at that time they wanted to do something special for their school on the occasion of their 50th reunion. Therefore, a scholarship fund was established through the Central Community Educational Foundation and classmates made donations to this fund over a five-year period.

The scholarship committee presented its first $500.00 scholarship in the spring of 2005 at an awards ceremony. The money has been invested, and a scholarship will be awarded each year as long as funds are available. The Class of 1954 is thanking Central Community School District for their education by awarding a scholarship to assist others in obtaining their education.
