Lillian Fell was a life-long resident of DeWitt, Iowa. She was educated, worked and developed here faith in this town. She wanted others to have that same opportunity, so Lillian left a large gift in her will to begin DeWitt’s community foundation. She told a trust officer at the bank, “If you don’t have a foundation, start one!”

The DeWitt Area Community Foundation, DACF, has formed partnerships with many organizations and foundations in western Clinton County. These relationships have helped to improve the community and have enabled the Foundation to plan for the future. The DACF has formed partnerships with the Central Community Education Foundation, the Fine Arts Foundation, Ci Ed Club, DeWitt Junior Women, the Police Foundation, and DART, as well as individual scholarship sponsors.

The DACF was established in 1987 and funds many local projects that meet the needs of citizens living in western Clinton County. The Foundation is an avenue for giving and works to achieve citizens’ charitable goals. The DACF gives everyone an opportunity to experience the joy of making a meaningful contribution to his or her community.
