Lillie C. Diedrich was born August 10, 1909, on a farm in rural Scott County, the daughter of Charles and Alvina (Untiedt) Kronenberg.
She married Raymond C. Diedrich from New Liberty, Iowa, in the mid-1930's. In 1937 Lillie and Ray moved to the Blue Grass Township farm where she was born, to continue the family farming operation.
Lillie and Ray raised three children, Donald, Shirley, and Larry. After the death of her husband on December 12, 1982, Lillie and her son Larry continued farming until 1993 when they gave up active farming, and leased the farm ground to a neighbor. In the early 90's Lillie broke her hip and from then on resided at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport.
Lillie's daughter Shirley predeceased her mother, dying on July 20, 1984. Her son Donald served in the military, was later disabled, and is currently a resident of the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. Lillie died on October 15, 1998, at the age of 89. At the time of her death, Lillie's estate was placed in trust at her direction to provide support for her son Larry. Larry followed his mother in death on May 12, 2001, at which time the balance of Lillie's estate passed from the trust to the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. Lillie Diedrich's bequest to the Community Foundation was to the Community Impact Fund, to be used where most needed to help benefit the community of which she was a life-long resident.
