Since 1964, area residents have been turning to the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend to "plant the seed of giving" in our community. We are a public foundation serving thousands of people who share a common concern - improving the quality of life in our community. The Community Foundation is a collection of endowed funds established by individuals, organizations and corporations - a community of donors. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations create permanent charitable funds that help our region meet the challenges of changing times.
The Foundation is a collection of more than 135 funds whose assets provide support for hundreds of charitable organizations and programs. The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend embodies a simple concept: People working together can make a difference.
The Community Foundation has been ruled by the Internal Revenue Service to be a publicly-supported, tax exempt organziation, under provisions of Section 509 (a)(1) of the Tax Code, and is not a private foundation. We are not subject to the excise tax levy and various restrictions placed on private foundations by the Tax Reform Act of 1969.
