Florence and Peter Milteadon Fund

Peter and Florence Milteadon were born on the historic Greek Island of Mytilene. Peter was born on July 27,1908 and Florence was born on Valentines Day 1922. The couple immigrated to the United States, with their sister Foteka Leon. They chose Davenport, Iowa as their home. Peter and Florence became members of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, and they later were married there.

The Milteadon family owned and operated the Iowa Motel, which was at the intersection of Kimberly Road and Brady Street in Davenport. The entire family took part in running the family business. The family's devotion extended to their faith and they decided to begin a fund to benefit two churches in the Quad City area. It was Peter that established a trust for to benefit St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island and Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline.

After Peter passed away on November 19, 1984, Florence sold the motel and house. She built herself a home in Davenport, where she lived quietly for many years until she passed away. The Community Foundation is pleased to work with the Milteadon family to help them achieve their charitable dreams.
