Walter Erwin Neiswanger


Walter Erwin Neiswanger was born on March 23, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa. Born and raised in Davenport Walter has resided there most of his life. Excluding the 34 months spent in the United States military during World War II and the ten years spent at graduate school from 1948-1958.

From a very early age Walters' parents taught him the virtue and joy gained from sharing the fruits of ones abundance with others.

Walter was educated in the public schools of Davenport and graduated high school in 1941. In 1948 he graduated from St. Ambrose College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. From there he went on to Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago and graduated in 1952. He then completed his residency in Atomic and clinical Pathology in 1958 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Walter practiced pathology for 32 years with the Quad-City group in the Quad-Cities from 1958-1990. He is now involved in The Davenport Museum of Art, The Quad-Cities Arts, and The Quad Symphony Orchestra Association.

Walter is interested in helping others financially, in the form of scholarships and endowments for those interested in all levels of medical education. He also hopes to promote moral and ethical standards regarding the area of medical education and health-care delivery. Along with the fore mentioned he also hopes to alleviate homelessness and poverty.
