Leigh Svacina was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on October 17, 1938. He grew up with his parents Renold and Florence who were married in November of 1937 and his three brothers Dale, Don, and David. Leigh graduated from Rice Lake High School and went onto college at Superior State Teachers College, but the investment businesses interested him and he began his career in investments in 1965 and today works at US Bancorp Piper Jaffrey.
His brothers are in farming and banking throughout the mid-west. Dale is a farmer in North Dakota, Don is a farmer on the family farm in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and David is in banking like Leigh at the Peoples State Bank of Wausau. The family gets together in Butternut, Wisconsin at the rustic family hunting cabin to spend quality time in the outdoors and with each other. Leigh enjoys traveling to Colorado and Wisconsin for leisure activities such as skiing, camping, and hunting. He also has a passion for gardening.
Leigh grew up with a family that gave even in tough times. As he moved further in his career in the investment field he realized, “the more you give, the more you get in return.” Leigh began giving his time and as his means permitted it allowed him to give more than just his time through volunteering, he began donating money to support those causes, which are important to him. Leigh says, “Giving makes me feel good.” Leigh supports many local non-profits including United Way, Red Cross, Visiting Nurses & Homemaker Association, Salvation Army, and WVIK-Public Radio. |
